Recent experiments show that dogs can perform a certain degree of quantitative analysis.  When a dog was fed 10 small treats repeatedly, and then only seven treats, the dog waited for the remaining three treats before turning away.

Most of the dog breeds we know today began in the 19th century.  Breeders carefully selected mating pairs so that the litters would have particular traits thought desirable by dog owners.

The Chihuahua is both the smallest and the longest living breed of dog, with a life span of 12 to 20 years.  The breed was named for the region of Mexico where they were first discovered, domesticated and eaten.
