A poll conducted by the American Animal Hospital Association showed that 33 percent of dog owners talk to their dogs on the phone or leave messages on an answering machine while they are away.
The first paintings of domesticated dogs were found on an Egyptian drinking cup from the Badarian age (5,500-4,000 B.C.), but it is difficult to recognize the breeds. Paintings of dogs with collars were found on stone tablets dating from about 1,000 years later.
